Lives Of The Tudors

Date and Time
30 March - 1 April

£16.50

Live like a Tudor for the day at Harvington Hall! Have you ever wondered what it was really like to live in Tudor Times? It wasn't all about feasting, hunting and play! Great houses like Harvington didn't run themselves, but at least 20 plus servants would have been working extremely hard to run Humphrey Pakington's house.

This family event will involve rolling your sleeves getting stuck in to domestic life at Harvington. Learn about the food being prepared in the kitchen, and decorate your own sugar plate. You may not think it but the Tudors did wash! Learn how to do the laundry and make your own soap balls. The floors didn't clean themselves and there was no such thing as hoovers! Have a go at scrubbing the floors and see if Tudor materials and techniques actually worked. Once you have experienced life as a servant, make your way upstairs and learn about the etiquette sitting at the Tudor board (table) from the very wealthy to the servants. Learn how to lay the board and learn some of their traditions and superstitions. On the top floor meet the midwife as she prepares to deliver a baby, and play some traditional Tudor games in the nursery.
