There has been a church on this site, adjacent to the park and gardens of Fulham Palace at the northern end of Putney bridge, since the twelfth century. The tower of the present church was built in the fourteenth century, and, although the remainder of the church was re-built in the 1880s, it retains many of the memorials from the earlier medieval church.
Sir William Butts, Henry VIII’s physician, was buried at All Saints and while his tomb does not survive, a memorial to him, on the south side does. There is also a memorial to Margaret Sanders, wife and mother to the painters Gerard, Lucas and Susanna Horenbout.
