Overview

We learn about The Auckland Project's campaign to acquire a remarkable tapestry, commissioned by Henry VIII to when he became Supreme Head of the Church of England, return it from Spain to the UK and display it at Auckland Castle, in County Durham. We look at the discovery of Tudor paintings in the plasterwork on the walls of Christ's College, Cambridge, that feature symbols and motifs connected to the college's foundress, Lady Margaret Beaufort.

We speak to Giles Keating, owner of Athelhampton, a wonderfully original Tudor manor house in Dorset with a fascinating history, including connections to the Babington Plot. Amongst many topics, we discuss the work Giles has led to make Athelhampton the first net-zero building of its kind in Britain, with huge financial, conservation and commercial benefits for Athelhampton estate.

Sarah Morris, the Tudor Travel Guide, leads us through a circular tour of Tudor Norfolk, beginning and ending in Norwich, and Brigitte Webster tells us about the challenges and joys of living in Old Hall over the winter months.

In Last Place, Nicola Tallis shares her favourite Tudor places.

All this, plus news, books and more…..
