St Mary's hospital: the place of the hospital in medieval Dover - Maison Dieu history talk by Dr Sheila Sweetinburgh

As a key institution in the spiritual economy, the development of St Mary's hospital or the Maison Dieu offers an excellent way to explore the history of medieval Dover.

This talk will examine relationships between those inside and outside the hospital, leading to its demise as a charitable establishment under its final master.

Our speaker is Dr Sheila Sweetinburgh of Centre for Kent History and Heritage at Canterbury Christ Church University.

Free in-person talk. Please enter via the Dover Museum main entrance in Market Square. Doors open at 7pm ready for a prompt 7.30pm start.

Please print out your Eventbrite tickets to show at the door.

Part of the Re-awakening the Maison Dieu outreach programme. With generous support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. For further information visit www.maisondieudover.org
