Tudor Dig at Sudeley Castle (Two Weeks)

Location
Sudeley Castle, Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, GL54 5LP
Date and Time
18 - 30 October 2022
Price
£1,350.00

There are important historical ruins buried in the grounds of Sudeley Castle; ruins that hold clues about Thomas Seymour and his love for Queen Catherine Parr, proof of a temporary palace built for Elizabeth I, traces of the power that upheld the Tudor throne, and evidence for the final destruction of Winchombe Abbey.

Take part in DigVentures’ two-week public dig to reveal Sudeley’s secrets!

You’ll get to experience two whole weeks of an excavation, learn the enormous variety of skills that go with it, and start to see archaeology in a whole new light… You’ll begin to build up the ‘big picture’ view of archaeology, and how archaeologists interpret a site as new evidence comes to light. You’ll put all these skills into practice and walk away with the confidence to use them – wherever archaeology takes you next.

Event is organised by DigVentures.
